“KINGY” RELISHING WHITSTABLE CUP TIE

By Deal Town

Assistant manager Steve King says the Hoops will travel “with no fear” when they take on Whitstable Town in the quarter-finals of the Southern Counties East League Challenge Cup on February 13.

Speaking to the “Kentish Football” website after Tuesday’s 3-0 third round win at Sutton Athletic, “Kingy” said: “It’s a nice local derby for us. We know a lot of the Whitstable players and they’re a good side. Their manager, Scott Porter, has got them well organised.”

Whitstable are currently fourth in the table, two places above Deal, but Steve added: “We beat them at home in the league and we will go there with no fear. This is the only cup competition we are still left in so we’ll be giving it absolutely everything.”

The Hoops are without a match this weekend but they will be back in action next Wednesday (February 7) when they travel to Lordswood for a league game.
