CITY DECIDE TO END GROUNDSHARE

By Deal Town

Canterbury City chairman Tim Clark has confirmed that City will not be taking up their option of a second year groundshare at the Charles Ground next season.
Canterbury, who are planning to build their own new ground at Highland Court by 2019, will be ground sharing with Faversham Town next season.

  1. Let’s hope the club didn’t budget on our tenants being here next year, because if so,it’s a big loss to the club.☹
So will this mean a return of the reserve team to the Charles Ground next year??
The league they were in last year (KCFL Div.2 East) seems a pretty good league, with the likes of Lordswood and Rusthall running teams, encouraging youngsters to progress through the ranks,to one day play against the likes of Deal’s first team.
Surely the plans for reinstating the reserves should be on the table now, with similar ideas to bring forward any local talent(after trials),to represent the club, with the ultimate aim of one day”PLAYING FOR THE 1ST TEAM”.?
After all,our leading scorer was playing Sunday League football last year. Who’s to say there isn’t another “Sam Wilson” lurking locally??
Stuck for ideas to run the side?
Look no further than the stalwart that is Danny Smith.
Perfect to end his career at the club by being player/manager,with someone else as his “wing man”,to help run the side?

  2. Well, that’s a bit of a blow. Hope the club hadn’t budgeted for our tenants to be here next year, because that’s a big loss☹

Surely plans could be put in place to resurrect the team, with the aim of finding local talent(after trials) good enough to represent the team, with the ultimate aim of “Turning out for the 1st Team”
After all,our leading scorer came from Sunday League football,so who knows whether there’s another “Sam Wilson” lurking locally!??

What better way to end his career here by being player/manager,with someone else as his “wing man” to help the youngsters with their game.

  4. I think the real reason Canterbury decided to not be tenants next season was because of the difficulty getting to the ground.
Faversham fc is definitely the best solution for city and wish them well it must be difficult.
    Come on Deal.!!!!
