SQUAD UPDATE

By Deal Town

We would just like to update all of our supporters on the current injury situation within the squad as we prepare for a number of important games over the coming weeks. Dean Hill and Lee Scott are both struggling with injuries and are likely to be ruled out for the next couple of weeks. Dean has a calf injury and Lee has been advised to rest a re-occurring hamstring injury. Luke Bigginton is back in training following a re-occurrence of his knee injury from before Christmas and we hope that he will be available for selection in the coming weeks.

Steve Butcher is still side lined with a badly broken rib from the Chichester game and currently we do not have a date for his return. Charlie Walsh is making good progress following his thigh injury that has kept him out for most of the winter months. Charlie tried to come back too early last time and we are taking our time to make sure his injury is right. We are hoping to see him back in a hoops shirt before too long but must ensure he is fully fit before doing so. Liam Hark missed Saturday’s game due to flu, he did travel with the squad but failed a fitness test before the game.

Joe Reeves is now back fit and available for selection following his recent injuries. We are always looking to add to the squad, especially when we have injuries but we will only bring in the right type of player and these players are not always available at this stage of the season. It is very frustrating for us all when players are unavailable but we will always select the strongest side available to us to try and win every game we played.

We have not and certainly will not be resting any players over the coming weeks and hope to have some of the players named above back available for selection sooner rather than later. We are all looking forward to Saturday’s game against Bearsted as we look to pick up another three points.

  1. Good to see the club finally keep the supporters informed about the state of play with regard to the “Walking Wounded” 🙂
    Was Sahadow suffering from anything?
I would have thought that if you have a guy on loan,or dual reg,it would be beneficial(both to him and the team) to give him as much game time as possible.
Obviously, with an important(tough!) cup game coming up, I would guess that squad rotation(as well as priority) would come into the equation.
    What’s more important?
    Playing a team that’s 15th in the league.or playing a team in a cup quarter final,that’s 4th in the league,on a 10 match unbeaten run?
I know where my prioirities would lie.
    Looking forward to both games.

  2. No mention of Joe Anderson!?
    What’s the SP with him?
    Still injured? Left the club?
Would be a shame if he has gone. Always rated him.
