HOOPS v BEARSTED PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops will play a welcome first home game for six weeks when they take on Bearsted at the Charles Ground on Saturday (3pm).

Deal’s last home appearance was on January 13 when they defeated Erith Town 2-1 and the three points they gained that day lifted Derek Hares’ side to fifth place in the table.

But, because of a series of postponements, the Hoops have only played two league games since then, suffering away defeats at Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks Town, which means they have slipped to 10th position. However, despite still missing several players through injury, they will feel confident of getting back on track against a Bearsted side who have lost their last seven matches, including a 1-0 defeat by Deal at the end of December when Connor Coyne scored the only goal of the game at White Horse Lane.

That poor run has seen the Bears slip from sixth place at the end of November to their current 15th position. Bearsted’s last game resulted in a 5-0 home defeat by Sevenoaks and, although the Hoops lost 4-0 to the ‘Oaks last weekend, the scoreline flattered the league leaders with Hares saying: “It certainly wasn’t a 4-0 game. Their goalkeeper had an outstanding game and made three or four superb saves.

“We’ve dropped down the table because we haven’t been playing but we can still finish in the top six which would be a massive step forward.”

One Response

  1. A fantastic opportunity to really take advantage of Bearsteds losing streak.
The fact that Deal haven’t played and slipped down the league means they need a win but the team are well capable of getting into their form again.
It’s a game that they can gain back their confidence and put on a display in front of home support willing them on.
    Good luck to the team.
    Come on Deal.!!!!
