HOOPS v ERITH & BELVEDERE PREVIEW

By Deal Town

After recording their first away win of the season last weekend the Hoops will be looking to pick up another three points “on the road” when they travel to Erith & Belvedere on Saturday.

The 3-2 victory at Fisher lifted Deal a welcome three places to 16th in the Southern Counties East League table and they will go into Saturday’s fixture knowing that another win will see them “leapfrog” the Deres in the table – and possibly two or three more clubs as well depending on results in other matches.

Hoops manager Derek Hares told the East Kent Mercury: “Only a few points separate a lot of teams at the moment and a few, including Lordswood and Rochester, look as though they are in freefall.”

As for the Deres they are currently lying 12th in the table and are unbeaten in their last five matches at Park View Road, where they defeated the Hoops 1-0 in last season’s corresponding fixture.

Andy Miller is doubtful for Saturday’s clash because of the knee injury which forced him to come off after just eight minutes of the Fisher game while skipper Dean Hill is unavailable, but Luke Bigginton returns the squad after missing last week’s win.

Deal Reserves are at home again on Saturday when they take on Larkfield & New Hythe Wanderers in a Kent County League game with a 2pm kick-off.

  1. A good performance last season wasn’t enough. The Deres are a good side especially at home so it wont be easy. Chances will have to be taken and on the day that will be the deciding factor.
Hoping to get up to the game as I missed the game last week (grounded)
    Come on Deal.!!!
