Following the Hoops’ terrific FA Vase victory on Saturday they
are back in cup action again on Tuesday night, this time at home to Bearsted in
the third round of the SCEL Challenge Cup (7.45pm).
And Derek Hares’ men can expect Bearsted to provide an equally tough test as
the Bears are currently in a rich vein of form with five wins in their last six
matches, including a 2-1 success at Lordswood in the Kent Senior Trophy at the
weekend.
Bearsted are lying in 13th place in the Premier Division, three places and two
points below Deal. The sides haven’t met yet this season but the Bears
completed a league “double” over the Hoops last season and so Deal will be
looking for a spot of revenge tomorrow night along with a place in the last
eight of the Challenge Cup.
