HOOPS AND WHITSTABLE TRY AGAIN IN CUP

By Deal Town

The Hoops and Whitstable Town will try again on Tuesday night (7.45pm) to play their delayed SCEL Challenge Cup quarter-final.

The tie was postponed last Tuesday after the Oystermen’s Belmont pitch failed a morning inspection but Whitstable’s home game with Lordswood on Saturday was played as planned and, after having three matches postponed already this month, the Hoops’ management will be hoping that the cup game also goes ahead as scheduled this time.

The Whitstable and Lordswood game ended in a 1-1 draw which ended the Oystermen’s run of six successive wins in league and cup but they are still in third place in the table while the Hoops have slipped to 10th following their 4-0 defeat at leaders Sevenoaks on Saturday.

But Deal will draw encouragement from the fact they are one of only five teams to have beaten Scott Porter’s side in the league this season, Sam Wilson scoring both goals in the Hoops’ 2-1 victory at the Charles Ground in early September.

  1. Although we won back in September,a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then!
The Oysters seem to be on a good run, while a couple of defeats(both conceding 4 goals in a game) have knocked us down from the dizzy heights of 5th to our normal “mid table mediocrity” position of 10th! 🙁
Hoping the weather holds and the team put in a good performance on the night.

  2. Fingers crossed for tonight?
Pitch inspection at 1.00pm.Dont want it being delayed even more!
