Deal Town Rangers’ “Festival of Football”

By Deal Town

Over 400 youngsters from all over East Kent will be taking part in Deal Town Rangers’ first-ever “Festival of Football Weekend” at the Charles Ground on Saturday and Sunday (May 6-7).

Rangers’ teams ranging in age from Under-7 to Under-18 will be taking on opposition from around 20 other junior football clubs including Eastry Ravens, Folkestone Dynamos, Herne Bay Harriers, St Margaret’s and Woodnesborough.

Rangers’ treasurer Gareth Scanlon said: “The Festival Weekend is an idea we have seen used elsewhere and provides an opportunity for the town’s two biggest clubs, Deal Town FC and Deal Town Rangers, to showcase what they have to offer to football-lovers of all ages.”

“During the two days every Rangers’ team will be playing a match against opposition of the manager’s choosing to help promote goodwill, the activities of the club and the great football talent we have at Rangers.

“And the festival will also highlight our close links with Deal Town and their excellent facilities.”

The action will begin at 9.30am on Saturday with four matches kicking off at the same time on the junior-sized pitches: Rangers U7s v Dover Rangers; Rangers U7 Colts v Hugin Vikings; Rangers U8s v Chartham Sports; and Rangers U8 Colts v Rising Stars. Matches then continue through until Sunday evening. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
