Bank Holiday Monday Round-Up

Croydon are the new early-season leaders of the Southern Counties East League – and they went top in style with a 6-0 demolition of Erith Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

Goals from Lauris Chin (2), Jeff Dual-Kissie, Rob Curtis, Karl Douglin and Tristan Toney mean the Trams lead the table on goal difference from second-placed Lordswood, who were 4-3 winners at new boys Bearsted.

A hat-trick from Jordan Gallagher plus a strike from Helge Orome led Lords to victory with the Bears’ goals coming from Bradley Webb, Andy Irvine and Keenan Mooney.

Cray Valley PM are up into third place following their 1-0 win at Crowborough Athletic. After a goalless first half Leigh Bremner made the decisive strike three minutes after the restart. The Crows slip to sixth.

Up into fourth place are AFC Croydon Athletic following their 3-0 home victory over Erith & Belvedere thanks to goals from Nuham Green, Emmanual Oloyede and Warren Mfula.

Ashford United suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 2-1 at home to Sheppey United. Timmy Babbington and James Simmonds scored for the Islanders with Shaun Welford on target for Ashford.

Sevenoaks Town are up into eighth place after winning 2-0 at home to neighbours Tunbridge Wells through goals in each half .from Byron Walker and Joe Bingham.

Hollands & Blair and Corinthian were involved in a 4-4 draw in which two players scored hat-tricks. Jack Simon bagged a treble for Blair whose other goal came from Bryan Greenfield, while Corinthian replied through hat-trick man Michael Hagan and Luke Tanner.

Whitstable Town suffered their second defeat of the Bank Holiday weekend, this time going down 4-1 at home to Canterbury City. Dave Pilcher (2), Sam Conlon and Alfie Nunn scored for City with Jamie Collado grabbing the Oystermen’s consolation.

Finally Beckenham Town picked up their first league win of the campaign with a 2-0 home success over Fisher thanks to goals from Frank Warren and Jamie Humphris.
