THIS WEEKENDS PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops continue their pre-season build-up with a home game against Kent County League Premier Division side Fleetdown United on Saturday (3pm).

Then, on Sunday, the Charles Ground is hosting a charity match in aid of Pilgrims Hospice and the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust.

The game is being held in memory of Craig Andrews, who died aged 22 in 2014 after losing his battle with lymphoma, and Sam Page, who died aged 19  in July 2009 after contracting a blood disorder.

Both were born and lived in Whitfield and were keen footballers and Sunday’s match, which kicks off at 10.30am, aims to be a fitting tribute to both of them. Admission is free and any donations will go to the two charities.
