SUTTON ATHLETIC V HOOPS PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops travel to Hextable, near to Swanley, on Saturday to take on Sutton Athletic in the third round of the Southern Counties East League SCEL Challenge Cup.

Sutton are currently lying in 16th place in the SCEL First Division after a bad run of results in December when they lost all five of their matches in league and cup. But they have started the New Year in better fashion with draws against Snodland Town and FC Elmstead and Hoops manager Derek Hares is expecting another tight encounter to match what happened when the sides last met. That was in a Kent Senior Trophy first round tie at the Charles Ground in October 2014, when Deal won a penalty shootout 7-6 after  the game finished 2-2.

But, after winning four of their last five league games, the Hoops will be in confident mood as they try to book a quarter-final trip to Whitstable Town.

  1. Nothing but our strongest team out tomorrow!
Looking forward to a good away win to keep the winning streak going! 🙂
Lets hope the weather holds,as we don’t want to be travelling mid week for a re-arranged fixture! 🙁

  2. Now that its been(unfortunately) re-arranged for a Tuesday night, any chance the club will run a coach to take any supporters to the game?
Would be a shame to see the team not see any vocal support on the night. 🙁
