RUSTHALL V HOOPS PREVIEW

By Deal Town

After a two-week break from competitive action the Hoops will be back at it on Saturday when they travel to Tunbridge Wells to take on Rusthall.

And it’s an encounter which looks as though it will be more difficult than seemed likely to be the case a few weeks ago  because Rusthall, having been in the bottom two relegation places for most of the season, have won their last two league games including a 2-1 “derby” victory over Tunbridge Wells last Saturday.

The Hoops for their part have only one win in their last 10 but they will be looking to complete a league “double” over Rusthall after goals from Ben Cardwell (2) and Connor Coyne gave them a 3-0 success at the Charles Ground back in August, and Derek Hares’ side will be lifted by the return of Kane Smith after his recovery from a broken ankle.

Head coach Steve King said: “Rusthall hadn’t won for about four months and now they’ve put two wins together so we’re expecting it to be really tough. We won’t be taking Rusthall lightly but, with their league position, three points is clearly the aim and we want to finish the season strongly.”

  1. Three points is the aim!?
    Finish the season strongly?
Then, liike on Tuesday night, play two up front. Then we wouldn’t read in the Mercury such quotes such as “struggling to score” and “Sam Wilson ploughing a lone furrow”?
Don’t play one man up front against a team that’s 2nd from bottom and seems to get beaten by everybody else( apart from Tunbridge Wells!) at their place!☹
