HOOPS v LORDSWOOD PREVIEW

By Deal Town

Hoops manager Derek Hares believes his side can banish any lingering relegation fears with victory over Lordswood at the Charles Ground on Saturday.

Deal’s recent good run, with just one defeat in their last eight league games, has seen them rise from 18th to 13th place in the Southern Counties East League table since the end of January.

Lordswood in contrast are in the middle of a terrible run. After lying 12th just before Christmas the Walderslade outfit now fill one of the two relegation places after going 10 matches without a win, including a 2-0 defeat last weekend at bottom-of-the-table Fisher.

The Hoops drew 1-1 with Lordswood at Martyn Grove in early January, with Grant Bagley getting their goal, and if Deal could go one better on Saturday it would open up a 15-point gap between the sides with only six games left to play.

The latest news on the injury front is that Luke Bigginton and Harry Alexander are both struggling with hamstring injuries while Andy Miller has an ankle problem, but Kane Smith is available again after missing last Saturday’s win over Sevenoaks because of work commitments.

  1. Although it looks like we’ll have 3 missing tomorrow,I’m pretty confident that the team will prove too strong for the visitors.(Hope that doesn’t come back and bite me on the a*se 😉 )
Looking forward to another home win 🙂
