HOOPS V HOLLANDS & BLAIR PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops will be looking to build on Saturday’s first win of the season when they take on Hollands & Blair at the Charles Ground on Tuesday (7.45pm).
The 2-0 victory at Glebe was “just what the doctor ordered” for Derek Hares’ side after their FA Cup exit the previous weekend, but Blair will also have been lifted by recording their opening win of the campaign on Saturday, a 3-0 home success over Greenwich Borough.
And the fact that Simon Halsey’s side have also drawn their other two league games so far against Corinthian and Erith Town, both of whom finished in the top six last season, suggests that the Gillingham outfit are set to significantly improve on their 18th-place finish last time around.
Two of Blair’s 24 league defeats last season came at the Hoops’ hands, but Derek Hares will not need reminding that Blair did win 3-0 in a Kent Senior Trophy first round tie at the Charles Ground in October, and so Deal will probably need a repeat of their Glebe performance to pick up another three points on Tuesday.
