HARES PRAISES ‘COMPLETE TEAM PERFORMANCE’

Hoops manager Derek Hares described Saturday’s seven-goal victory over Erith Town as “a complete team performance”.

After watching his side take their goal tally to 18 in their last four matches Hares said: “To be honest, I can’t really pick out anyone from today.  I thought it was a complete team performance right through from Henry (Newcombe) in goal, with his penalty save, out to Rene (Rivera) on the wing and his hat-trick.

“And I have also got to give ‘ Muzza’  (Paul Murray) and ‘Kingy’ (Steve King) a lot of the credit for that performance because they work hard out on the training pitch and their coaching skills are now starting to pay off for the team.

“It was obviously an important game for us, not just for the three points on offer but for the fact we’ve now got six straight away matches and we felt it we could get a win today it would give us a good platform for that run.”

Saturday’s victory lifted the Hoops to 11th place in the table and Hares added: “We said at the start of the season that,  if we could finish in the top 10 this season, that would represent a good progression from last year and the five wins we’ve had on the trot have obviously made a big difference.

“And we have done it despite it a bad run of injuries and suspensions, but we know that we’ve now  got to start transferring  some of our excellent home form into our away matches, starting at Cray Valley (in the League Cup) on Wednesday night.”
