FROM THE STANDS

Saturday’s game saw Deal’s 5 match unbeaten run come to an end losing 3-1 to bogey side Corinthians. Deal could have been two up in the first 20 minutes but a dubious linesman flag saw Andy Millers goal disallowed but Deal still took the lead before two Corinthians goals turned the game on its head and saw the visitors going in with the 2-1 lead at half time! The second half saw the vast majority of the game played in the Corinthians half with Deal pressing and going close on a number of occasions before the inevitable break-away goal sealed the points for the visitors!

Now I have said previously in this feature that we would have to learn how to deal with poor officiating from the men in black and today was no exception. The officials were the poorest I’ve seen so far this season with decision making that was atrocious at times, however what was disappointing for me was how the team reacted to it! Bookings for descent forced changes as did the injury to our keeper ( suspected broken hand ) frustration in the ranks only made things worse! The team cannot influence the referee and by trying to do so only makes the poor officiating so much worse! They have to learn (and dare I say it look at Corinthians today) that you have to play to the whistle, even when it’s as bad as today, as Corinthians did today taking the points! We were equal to them all over the pitch and yet we lost again because we couldn’t keep our cool or take our chances that we created against the 14 we were up against today! Leave the criticising to the Manager, Coach and us Supporters! You concentrate on the football!

COYH you can do that
