FA CUP & VASE DRAWS

By Deal Town

The Hoops have been drawn away to fellow Southern Counties East League Premier Division side Corinthian in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday, August 5.
The Longfield-based club finished 10th last season, three places above Deal, and took four points off the Hoops in their two league meetings, winning 3-1 at the Charles Ground in September and drawing 1-1 at home in March.
The winners of the tie, which will be Deal’s opening competitive game of the season, will be at home to Glebe or Lordswood in the Preliminary Round on August 19.
And should the Hoops and Glebe both get through it means they will be meeting twice in cup competitions in the space of three weeks because the two sides have also been drawn together in the First Round Qualifying of the Buildbase FA Vase, with Deal having to travel to Glebe on Saturday, September 9.
That would give Derek Hares’ side the chance to gain revenge for their defeat at Glebe’s hands after a replay in their Vase Second Round Qualifying clash last season.
If Deal beat Glebe in this year’s Vase they will be at home to CB Hounslow United or Peacehaven & Telscombe in the next round on September 23.
