Recap
What a great start to the season against a tough first fixture in Erith Town. Deal came out of the blocks firing with a goal in the 8th minute scored by Owen Wilkinson and assisted by Kaeden Jefferys who managed to keep the ball in from a through ball, cut inside, beat his man and cross into the box for Owen. Two minutes later Kaeden Jefferys latched onto a well worked through ball from Zak Hammond, Kaeden proceeded to outpace the center back and slot it passed the goal keeper. The game then started to even up with some close attempts from both sides and with the half time whistle we went into the break 2-0 up. The plan at HT was to go out start fast and continue with the same successful game plan, bring in some fresh legs and keep the pressure on Erith. We started fast with a close attempt on goal from Kaeden Jefferys that went over the bar but Erith also started fast and hit us on the break scoring on the 50th minute making it 2-1. This then kicked Deal into the next gear as Kaeden Jefferys then scored his 2nd of the game with a header from a cross supplied by Reuben Fagg in the 55th minute making it 3-1. Erith then caught Deal napping with a goal in the 60th minute making in 3-2 and looking like they could sneak back into this game. Deal managed to keep the pressure on and with some excellent hold up play and Kaeden Jefferys who controlled the ball on the edge of the box, laid it off to Reuben Fagg who then whipped a stunner into the top corner making it 4-2. This goal seemed to take the wind out of Erith’s sails as Deal then took control. In the 82nd minute George Jenner had a shot on goal that was saved by the keeper and with a strikers instinct and positioning Kaeden Jefferys lost his man, followed up and tapped in the loose ball to turn his brace into a well deserved hattrick making it 5-2 and a convincing win.
With 3 goals and 2 assists Kaeden Jefferys was awarded the Payne Groundworks MOTM award.
