Tommy Relocates Away

24th July 2024

Our former FA Vase winning manager, Tommy Sampson, recently got in touch as he bids farewell to the south-east. In a message from Tom, he says:

"Hello everyone. My reason for writing this piece is to let you all know that Sandie and l are re-locating to Nottinghamshire. The idea behind this move is purely family related."

"It also means l wont be around much next season as the guys make their debut in the lsthmian League. I will certainly try and get to the big games ; FA cup or play-off semi-finals. l am positive that the play-offs are well within this teams capabilities."

"As for leaving Kent, l am going to find it a huge wrench; this County has been good to me. I played over 200 games for Dartford, then went on to manage Sheppey United, Tonbridge Angels, Herne Bay and finally came to the Charles ground to manage this wonderful club."

"I realise that l will be leaving many great friends behind, particularly Dave Dadd, Dave Briggs, Donna and Rob Marriott, Danny and Laura Smith. As well as you, the club's wonderful supporters. I like to believe l have shaken hands with everyone of you at sometime."

"You have all given me such magical moments since l signed that two-year contract, on May 7th 1999. l would also like to thank all of you supporters that have shaken my hand, and offered me encouragement, since suffering a stroke in 2007."

"My love and best wishes to you all and, never fear, I'll be back!!!"
