Deal travelled to the Crabble for an evening kick-off, with a good number of away fans in attendance.

In the early stages of the game, Deal played long in an attempt to circumvent the Dover midfield, whereas Dover attempted to dominate possession. This early pressure was rewarded when Deal had a huge chance in the 9th minute when a set-piece swung in from the right reached the far post, resulting in a header being directed towards the bottom right-hand corner of the Dover goal. However, a goal-line clearance prevented Deal from taking the lead.

Dover replied in the 11th minute when a shot from the left, just inside the box, flew towards the bottom right-hand corner of the goal. However, Tonks produced a huge save diving to his right to tip the ball away from goal.

Deal produced another big chance in the 20th minute when a clever through ball allowed Wilkinson to go through on goal. However, Mitchell Walker rushed off his line and produced a good point-blank save to send the ball out of play.

Deal would come to rue missing this opportunity, as a minute later Dover took the lead. A low-driven cross from the right gave Dover a chance, and although Tonks managed a valiant save to prevent the initial effort from finding the net, Rolando Onu fired the rebound into the centre of the goal to put Dover ahead in the 21st minute.

Neither team was able to carve out any clear chances for the remainder of the first half, with Dover trying to keep hold of the ball and suffocate the game in an attempt to prevent Deal from finding an equaliser.

The second half started with Dover controlling the play and eventually the home side would double their lead in the 52nd minute. A low-driven cross from the left found the feet of Wilkinson, who fired the ball into the bottom right-hand corner from just outside the box to put the hosts 2–0 up.

Deal managed to pull one back in the 79th minute when a clever through ball from midfield found the feet of Jamie Kennedy, who clinically fired the ball into the centre of the goal.

However, Deal were unable to find an equaliser, resulting in the game ending 2–1, with Dover securing the victory.
