ROCHESTER UTD 1 DEAL TOWN 4

By Deal Town

The Hoops moved into the top 10 in the Southern Counties East League by completing the “double” over Rochester United in Strood on Tuesday night.

And they did it by achieving exactly the same 4-1 scoreline with which they had disposed of the Medway outfit at the Charles Ground in December.

Rene Rivera, who scored twice in the home game, started the ball rolling on Tuesday with a fine solo goal after just eight minutes. Although Rochester rarely threatened the Hoops goal they did manage to equalise before half-time through a far post header by Harrison Hume.

The second half, however, was dominated by Deal and they were rewarded with three more goals.

Kristin Gregory (60mins) and Danny Smith (76mins) both scored from free-kicks before Stephen Baines rounded off an excellent night for the Hoops with his first goal for the club seven minutes from time.
