REUNION OF HOOPS’ 1982 CUP-WINNING TEAM

By Deal Town

Deal’s FA Vase tie on Saturday could well see lots of former Hoops players at the Charles Ground.

Ex-player and manager Dave Parsons is organising a reunion of the Deal side which won the Kent League Cup in 1982 by beating Erith & Belvedere 2-1 in the final thanks to goals by Keith Robinson and Vic Medus.

Dave, who was in charge of the team for that cup success, said: “The main idea for the reunion is to bring together as many players as possible who were in the side that day. But I’m hoping that plenty of other former players will also come along, especially as Saturday’s Vase tie is an important game for the club.”

The Deal side that played in that 1982 cup final was:  Peter Hook, Marcus Newton, Nina Allen, Fred Doncaster, Roger King, Dick White, Alan Brown, Vic Medus, Gerry Jordan, Keith Robinson, Jim Nokes. Sub: Alan Barrow.
