The club are pleased to announced that we have re-signed Rene Rivera after a 5-year spell studying and playing in Florida, USA. Rene, now 24, has recently returned to the UK to study a Masters degree and will be wearing the Hoops shirt again this season for the first time since the 2015/16 season. During that season Rene scored 24 goals and ended up as the Hoop’s joint top goal scorer. The ex-England Schoolboy International has continued to play during his time in America representing the Universities where he has studied.
Commenting on the signing Steve King said, “It is great to have Rene back at the club after his time away in America. He is someone I know very well and hopefully he will continue where he left off five years ago. The club has made huge strides both on and off the pitch since 2016 and I know Rene is keen to help us push on further. Due to current quarantine arrangements, it has not been possible for Rene to complete a pre-season with us but I am sure it will be not be long until he is up to full speed.”
Everyone at the club would like to welcome Rene back and we look forward to seeing him in a Hoops shirt again this season.
