Deal Town FC ran a Community Day on Tuesday 5th November with Sandown Primary School. First Team Manager Steve King led the day that included an assembly on Community and sessions with Year 5 and 6 on aspirations and transition to Secondary School.
King was then joined by first team player Ben Chapman (a teacher at Sandown) as he led some coaching sessions for Years 4, 5 and 6. To conclude the day students were given the opportunity to have a photo with the SCEFL Trophy with King, and both the Chapman brothers as Tom also come in to support the day.
On the day King said:
It was great to give something back to the local community. Sandown is a popular local school who have been keen to collaborate with the club and with Ben working there we were more than happy to go and share the success that we achieved last year.
We believe that we are here to represent our local community and days like this only strengthen those positive relationships. We have given all KS2 students at the school a free ticket for themselves and an adult for our game against Littlehampton on Saturday and we look forward to welcoming them to the Charles Ground.
Headteacher at Sandown Kate Luxford said:
The pupils at Sandown School thoroughly enjoyed their sessions with Steve King. There was a tangible buzz of excitement around the school coupled with some great discussion on aspirations and transition to secondary.
The club are proud of all the work it carries out in the Community and would like to thank Sandown Primary School for allowing us to come in for the day and spread the word about our great club.
