MANAGEMENT TEAM UPDATE

By Deal Town

We felt that this would be a good time to update our supporters after the news today that all leagues at our level are finished for the season. It has now been 12 days since we played our last game and with every passing day football has taken less significance and the news that the season is finished did not come as a surprise to anybody.

It is now important that we all follow the advice given and help the country to return to normality as soon as possible. When this happens we can start to think about football again and I am sure we are looking forward to being back at the Charles Ground when the times comes.

This season has been a great one for the club with the clear highlight being our FA Vase run. The scenes in both Binfield games and at Consett will live long in the memory and we are hoping for more similar moments when we return to the field. The league season will always be a hard one to judge as we still had a third of our games to play but our PPG average would have given us a 9th place finish on the games that have been played which is not bad considering the disruption to our league campaign due to the Vase run.

As a club we are making sure we stay in regular contact with the players and the team spirit we display on the field will help us all get through this difficult time of the field. A quick mention to Bradley Baker who we signed from Lydd just before the league suspension so unfortunately never got to make his debut. He is a player we have tracked for a while and we were looking forward to seeing him in a Hoops shirt but that will sadly not be this season now.

We would like to thank everyone associated with the club for their outstanding support this season. Please all stay safe, follow the advice given and we look forward to seeing you all for the 2020/21 season when it begins.

  1. Thanks to everyone associated with Deal Town FC for the regular entertainment of football. Indeed, the highlight was the 13 – 14 hour round trip to Newcastle, the support was phenomenal for such a journey. I wish you well and look forward to seeing you all next season. Stay safe and STAY IN DOORS.
