LORDSWOOD 1 DEAL TOWN 0

Despite producing a competent team performance Deal fell to a late winner at Lordswood on Wednesday night.

The Hoops were unlucky not to earn at least a point from a tight encounter which saw both sides miss a penalty. Seconds before half-time Jordan Wells shot wide from the spot for Lordswood, and then on 62 minutes Ben Chapman did the same for Deal.

The Hoops created the better first half chances with Sam Wilson and Andy Miller both going close while Lordswood produced a good spell of attacking football early in the second period but were denied by three fine saves by Deal keeper Jon Sparkes.

However, in the 90th minute, following a Lordswood free kick taken by Helge Orome, Deal were unable to fully clear the ball and Lordswood substitute Bradley Webb scored from close range to earn the home side a league “double” over the Hoops this season.

Deal: Sparkes, Hark, Alexander (D Smith 82), Scott, K Smith, Bigginton, Foster (Sahadow 69), A Miller,  Coyne (Reeves 83), Wilson, Chapman.

Attendance:  40

  1. Although defeated on the night, the performance overall was better than the one against the Oysters, the week previous ?
A special note of thanks must go to “Sparkesy”,who,in my opinion was the Deal MOM, as he played well, looked as if he’d never been away and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
    Good luck against Glebe tomorrow.
