The Hoops round off their season on Saturday with a trip to Tunbridge Wells knowing that a point will be enough to secure a seventh place finish in the table – their best for 13 years.

And on the scoring front Deal’s strike duo, Connor Coyne and Rene Rivera, go into the game both chasing the club’s top scorer “gong” having both notched 21 goals for the campaign.

Manager Derek Hares told the East Kent Mercury: “Two players scoring 20 goals a season will always give you a chance and they have been excellent. It’s a long time since anyone has done it, probably since the days of John Utterson and Dave Bathgate.”

‘Del’ also confirmed that Saturday would be Rene’s final competitive game for the club as he is off to the States in August to start a four-year soccer scholarship in Florida.

The game against Wells should have taken place a fortnight ago but had to be postponed because the Culverden Stadium pitch was waterlogged.

  1. Good luck to the team and also to Rene. He will certainly be missed. Lets hope we can find somebody next year, who is young, speedy and tricky with it! 🙂
    Will be there Monday.

  2. Will be there also to witness a great end to the season.
It’ll be great to see Connor and Rene sign off the season.
I wish Rene all the best for his career but gutted as he will be a huge loss to the club.
His control on the ball and his trickery is great to watch.
He would be on Soccer Am Showboat every week in my opinion. Loved watching him (Ronaldo)
To finish seventh would be outstanding and with 53 points.
Hope the players are ready for an early start.
    Come on Deal.!!!!
