HOOPS V GREENWICH BOROUGH PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops will renew rivalries with Greenwich Borough for the first time in four seasons at the Charles Ground on Saturday (3pm).
The last time the clubs met was in January 2016 when Greenwich won 4-1 at home on their way to winning the Southern Counties East League title. Borough then spent three years in Isthmian League South East before being relegated last season and they haven’t made a great start to the current campaign either with only four wins in 12 matches in league and cup.
Ben Kotey’s side are currently lying in 17th position in the table, six places and seven points behind Deal, and the Hoops will be hopeful of increasing that gap even further after last week’s excellent 2-1 victory at Erith & Belvedere.
But manager Derek Hares warned: “Although Greenwich are down at the bottom they can still cause an upset and so you have got to make sure your attitude is right.
“And I think what we are lacking a little at the moment is consistency, so our target now has got to be to put a bit of a run together.”
