HOOPS V CORINTHIAN PREVIEW

By Deal Town

Deal will be trying to prevent in-form Corinthian from recording their 12th win in a row when they come to the Charles Ground on Saturday, which indicates the size of the task facing Derek Hares’ side.

The Longfield “double chasers” are joint top of the table and also through to the semi-finals of the League Challenge Cup after their 3-2 victory at Cray Valley on Wednesday night. Sam Bewick scored twice in that game, taking his tally to eight in the last four matches, and he was also on target when Corinthian beat Deal 2-1 in the third round of the Challenge Cup in December.

In addition Michael Golding’s team knocked Deal out of the FA Vase earlier in the season and so if the Town could upset the odds this weekend it would provide some sweet revenge, and their confidence will have been boosted by last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Erith Town which ended their eight-match run without a victory.

Hares said: “It was a good win and gives us a bit more confidence going into Saturday’s tough game. We always have close games against Corinthian and we are all looking forward to it.”
