HOOPS V CORINTHIAN PREVIEW

By Deal Town

It’s another “Cup Battle of the Hoops” at the Charles Ground on Tuesday night (7.45pm) as Deal and Corinthian, who both share the same “Hoops” nickname, meet in the third round of the SCEL Challenge Cup.
The two sides have already met in one knockout competition this season, with the Longfield club defeating Deal 3-2 at home in the first round of the FA Vase in mid-October.
And Corinthian come to Deal in a rich vein of form having won five league games in a row, including Saturday’s 4-1 home victory over Crowborough which lifted them to joint first place in the table alongside Fisher.
So Derek Hares’ side face a tough task in trying to reach the last eight of the Challenge Cup but they will have been encouraged by Saturday’s battling performance against Fisher at the weekend in front of a crowd of 154 – the best at the Charles Ground so far this season.
