HOOPS v ASHFORD UNITED PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops face a tough test at Ashford United on Tuesday night as they attempt to bounce back from Saturday’s 6-1 home defeat by Crowborough.

Ashford go into the game knowing that victory at Homelands will leave them only three points behind leaders AFC Croydon Athletic, with whom they fought out a 2-2 draw at the weekend after twice leading.

Shaun Welford, Ashford’s highly-experienced striker, went into that game with nine goals already to his name this season and Deal know all about the threat that the former Dover Athletic player presents as Welford’s four goals helped United to do the “double” over the Hoops last season.

Deal manager Derek Hares will be hoping that centre-half Grant Bagley is fit again after having to go off midway through the first half of the Crowborough clash because he was feeling unwell.
