Deal Town will look to maintain their impressive record in cup matches so far this season when they travel to Cray Valley PM on Saturday for a Kent Senior Trophy second round tie.

The Hoops have lost just once in nine knockout encounters, the 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Vanarama National League South side St Albans City last month, and three of their next four matches are cup ties: at Cray Valley on Saturday; at home to Sevenoaks Town next Tuesday in the Macron League Challenge Cup second round; and at home to Oxford City Nomads in the FA Vase first round proper on October 31.

The Hoops’ cup record is in fairly stark contrast to their record in the league, where they have lost seven of their nine matches, and manager Derek Hares admitted in the East Kent Mercury : “We need a win at the minute – there is no question about it. I think that would do everybody’s confidence a world of good.

“A win is a win and you can’t beat that winning feeling no matter competition you are playing in.”

Deal Town Reserves, who drew 1-1 at EK College Reserves last Saturday, are at home to Kennington Reserves in the NRG Kent County League Division Two East this Saturday.

  1. Reading todays EKM,it looks like being a tough ask, what with all the injuries. They couldn’t have come at a worst time!
Hope they clear up sooner than later! One good thing is that Cray played last night,so they may be a bit leggy.
Here’s hoping for a good result.
