HOOPS CHAIRMAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO ROY CARR

By Deal Town

Deal Town chairman Dave Chmura has spoken of his sadness at the news of the death of former Hoops captain Roy Carr.
He said: “I was privileged to play alongside Roy when Deal were in the Greater London League and then in the Kent League. He was a midfield maestro in a Hoops side which also included the likes of Alan Hughes, Tippy Prior, Terry Skelton and John Ludlam, Tony “Trigger” Tregunno and Malcolm Campbell.
“Later Roy played as a sweeper for Betteshanger alongside another top local player, Geoff Almond, and then as a manager he led the talented Walmer FC side to the final of the Kent Sunday Cup. Roy was a great credit to local football who will be sadly missed.”

  1. Whatever the match, Roy always gave 100%
Played with passion, and was a leader; the sort of player you would want in your team.
At times, we would have words on the field, but he was an honest man. Will be sadly missed.
