Hoops Bow Out of The FA Cup

By Deal Town

This was the biggest day for Deal Town FC in ten years.  The boys have had a great cup run so far and were eager to push through to the next round of The FA Cup.  It was a big task though with them being the biggest underdog in the competition with a position difference of 68 places between the teams.

The club wanted to make sure the team had a great day whether they win or lose.  Sheffield United’s Team Bus was laid on for them to travel to St Albans in courtesy of Bayliss Executive Travel and a stop on the way for a pre-match lunch.

Report courtesy of Southern Counties East League website:

Deal Town put up a valiant effort away to National League South St Albans City in the FA Cup 2nd qualifying round.

City went in front as early as the 3rd minute when top scorer Louie Theophanous tapped in from close range. Deal defended well and had more enthusiasm than the home side. Nevertheless it was City’s Luke Allen who scored next (although it looked suspiciously like an onw goal) to lead 2-0 in the 66th minute. Charlie Dickens scored for Deal with 10 minutes left but, although they created a couple of good late chances, they just couldn’t nick the equaliser. Great display from the SCEFL side.

  1. What a great effort in the clubs biggest game for years.
The players can take a lot of positives from their valiant
effort. The best one would be that they can take on
anyone and don’t have to feel overawed. They can feel extremely proud of themselves. They stuck to the game plan even when good support encouraged them early on to press their defenders.
They were able to keep it tight at the back and in hindsight from a fans point of view that was critical.
They fought like lions late on and that’s why I am proud
to support the club. The commitment from every one is
overwhelming. I enjoyed the whole experience and hope
that the club can be rewarded even more for their effort.
I believe they can and can’t wait for more big games.
Up next Ashford and all I need to say is
    Deeeeaaaaalllll.!!!!!!. Deeeeeaaaaalllll.!!!!
    Come on Deal.!!!!
