GLEBE V HOOPS PREVIEW

By Deal Town

Hoops manager Derek Hares is hoping that last weekend’s FA Cup exit will prove a wake-up call for his squad as they prepare for Saturday’s league game at Glebe.
Deal lost 3-2 at lower-league Sutton Athletic in the cup and Hares admitted afterwards: “It was very disappointing, too many players weren’t on their game, and the fact we lost to a last-minute own goal summed the day up.”
Glebe in contrast won their extra preliminary round tie 3-1 against Hollands & Blair and, although they lost their opening league match at Lordswood by the same scoreline, Hares expects the Chislehurst club to have another good season after they finished eighth last time around. Glebe were helped by winning 10 of their league games at Foxbury Avenue including a 3-0 victory over the Hoops in January.
The good news for Hares is that Connor Connor and Ben Cardwell are both back in the squad after being unavailable last weekend and so is Alfie Foster after completing his suspension. But Kane Smith’s chances of playing are rated as only “50/50” by the Hoops boss after the central defender had to go off against Sutton because of an ankle injury.
