“FOURTH TIME LUCKY” IN CUP?

By Deal Town

Deal Town and Whitstable Town will try for a fourth time on Tuesday night to play their SCEL Challenge Cup quarter-final following three previous postponements.

There will be another lunchtime pitch inspection at The Belmont to confirm that the game can go ahead and, if it does, the Oystermen will be looking to maintain their unbeaten record so far in 2018 while Deal will be hoping to achieve a repeat of their league win over Whitstable back in September.

In Tuesday’s other quarter-final Tunbridge Wells take on Cray Valley PM at home. The two games will be played to a finish on the night and the winners will join Crowborough Athletic and Lordswood in the semi-finals.

  1. Can’t believe the Belmont Ground was still covered in snow on Monday.
Helpers and volunteers cleared Sheppeys ground on Saturday afternoon in the hope of getting a game on tonight (Tuesday).
It’s gonna be a scenario where the league no the game has to go on because of the semi-finals being two legs.
Pitch inspection late as possible will they agree with management, coaching staff and players if they are doubtful of playing it. Very much doubt it and with wet weather forecast for the next few days I guess it will go on regardless.
The league have got themselves in bit of a pickle.
Just hope players don’t get unnecessary injuries as a result of getting the game on.

  2. Just to confirm that the game is finally going ahead tonight after The Belmond pitch passed a lunchtime inspection
