Recap
Deal Town Reserves suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of league leaders Cuxton ’91 in their final match of the season in the Kent County League Division 2 Central & East on Saturday.
The Medway side showed why they have now won 15 of their 16 league matches this campaign with a clinical display of finishing while the young Deal team could only manage one late goal in reply through George Lee.
Afterwards club chairman Dave Chmura confirmed that the Hoops would not be running a reserve team next season, saying: “ It’s unfortunate that we have had to make this decision but we are already looking into the possibility of running an Under-21 team in the near future so watch this space.”
And he emphasised that the decision regarding the reserve team had not been influenced by the groundshare agreement with Canterbury City for next season, saying: “Canterbury only approached us after we had already taken the decision regarding the reserve team.”
