Recap

The Hoops were unlucky to come away from high flying Beckenham with nothing to show for their efforts after a spirited display at Eden Park Avenue. Despite taking an a first-half lead through Sam Wilson, the hosts quickly responded before going on to score the winner after a penalty area scramble with twenty minutes to go.
Deal were unchanged from their win last week and started the game well on a pristine surface but it was Beckenham who had the best early chances and Tonkin made good saves to keep the game scoreless in the early exchanges. It was the Hoops who took the lead after some good play in the wide areas which forced a corner in the 31st minute. An excellent delivery from Andy Miller was flicked in by Sam Wilson for his tenth goal of the season.
Unfortunately for the Hoops the lead was short lived as Beckenham equalised three minutes later after a good finish from Jesse Darko following some good play from the hosts. Despite Beckenham having the majority of possession and creating chances, the Hoops always looked dangerous on the counter attack.
The second half continued in a similar fashion but as the half progressed the Hoops started to look more dangerous and Rodgers, Chapman and Wilson also had good chances for the away side. However, in an open game it was the hosts who were to take all three points with a goal in the 69th minute after a scramble from a wide free-kick, which saw Ike Robertson with the final touch. The final twenty minutes were end to end with both sides having opportunities to score but the Hoops had to finally accept it wasn’t to be their day when a last minute goal line scramble saw the ball land safely in the Beckenham goalkeeper’s hands.
Despite returning home with nothing the Hoops can be pleased with their performance and will be looking to continue their impressive home from when they face a dangerous Bearsted side next week, buoyed by the availability of new signing Dave Pilcher.
