By Deal Town

The club are delighted to announce that former top-flight goalkeeper Bob Bolder has agreed to talk about his long and distinguished career as part of a charity evening in the clubhouse on Friday, March 31 (7.30).

Bob, who of course originally hails from Deal, made a total of 467 Football League appearances during his spells with Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Charlton Athletic, and he is still very much connected with Charlton as a staff member of the Addicks’ Community Trust.

He also had a two-year stint at Liverpool and, although Bob never actually made an appearance for the Reds because of a certain “ever-present” by the name of Bruce Grobbelaar!

Now living in Thanet, Bob is taking part in a sponsored bike ride to Amsterdam this summer to raise money for the Prostate Cancer charity and a portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales from his “Deal Town Evening” will be donated to that charity.

Tickets, priced £10, will go on sale soon for what should a great evening of football memories and banter!
