Dover and Margate head to the Charles Ground

By Deal Town

The club are delighted to announce that we will be welcoming both Dover Athletic and Margate to the Charles Ground to start our pre-season fixtures. Ryman Premier League side Margate will kick off the pre-season fixtures on Saturday 8th July (1pm kick off) before Conference National side Dover Athletic head to the Charles Ground on Tuesday 11th July (7.30pm) to begin their own pre-season preparations.

The club are delighted to welcome such prestigious opponents and thank both clubs for agreeing to these games. With further investment being made into the playing surface over the summer the club is looking forward to showing off the ground in front of two large crowds.

Margate will be travelling to the Charles Ground after a difficult season last year which resulted in relegation from Conference South. However manager Steve Watt is already building a squad that looks capable of bouncing straight back into the National League and will provide the Hoops with a very stern test. Ex-Deal Town Chairman Rob Marriot is now on the Board of Directors and we look forward to welcoming everyone at Margate to the ground.

Dover Athletic will be travelling to the Charles Ground for the first time in recent years and it will give their fans an opportunity to see how their squad is shaping up for the new season. Having just missed out on the play-offs this year Chris Kinnear will be looking to build a squad capable of achieving promotion into the Football League.

Other games have been arranged against K Sports at home on Saturday 15th July (3pm), Ryman South side Ramsgate at home on Tuesday 25th July (7.45pm) and Lydd Town away on Saturday 29th July (3pm). There will be further fixtures confirmed which will be announced on the website in the coming weeks.

Please put these dates in your diary and make sure you don’t miss out!

  1. No “Demelza Cup” game against Ebbsfleet this year!?
Would be nice to see a good crowd there (a certainty with them being promoted),bringing money not only to the club but also to a worthy cause.

  2. I visit Deal quite often and the Margate and Dover games look attractive – hopefully I will be in Kent to catch the games – good luck Deal Town

  3. Great if you can make it Stuart. I am a long time fan although I am not now local.
I can guarantee 1 thing. You will see a great game of football.
Deal Town are going in the right direction they are managed well and the players are fantastic.
They are loyal and committed to the cause.
The team are young but gaining experience in the league.
Now that Ashford are promoted Deal can consider themselves amongst the top end of teams.
That quote in itself is completely serious bearing in mind that financially Deal are a lot worse off.
I am so looking forward to the season because Deal can really kick on.
The experience and quality they have are more than just
putting a team together and wads of cash.
One match stands out from last season and it has to be away at Crowborough.
What a performance and really Deal could’ve won.
Bring on the new season I can’t wait.
Just a shame we have to wait so long for fixtures.
It’s a scandal and plus the fact that the team must play FA cup football before the league campaign starts.
