DEAL TOWN 4 HOLLANDS & BLAIR 1

By Deal Town

Two fine first half saves by Deal ‘keeper James Tonkin, when he denied both James McDonald and Kushal Campbell in one on one situations, proved crucial in enabling the Hoops to complete a league “double” over Hollands & Blair on Saturday.
Deal led by a single goal at half time, scored by Danny Smith. The left back, making his 400th starting appearance for the club, fired home a 34th-minute free kick.
Then, after Blair ‘keeper Ryan Nicholls saved well from both Steve Butcher and Joe Reeves early in the second half, Deal scored from a 61st minute penalty by Andy Miller, following a trip on Jack Paxman.
Two minutes later Paxman delivered a superb cross to enable Sam Wilson to score with ease before Blair substitute Rob Denness pulled a goal back for the visitors with a header in the 65th minute.
With 15 minutes left Wilson grabbed a second goal, and his 21st of the season in all competitions, when once again Paxman, who stole the ball from a Blair defender, was the provider.
Deal: Tonkin, Paxman, D Smith, Bigginton (Adams 67), K Smith, Hark, Scott, Butcher (Foster 58), Wilson, Reeves (Coyne 72) , A Miller.
Attendance 124.

  1. Good to see the goals go in again, after a dry spell and also to see Sam on the score sheet as well. The find of the season,in my opinion.
Good all round performance from the team on the day. Lets keep it going.

  2. Good result and a good all round performance. Was good to see the referee booking someone for “gobbing off” would like to see more of the same.
