By Deal Town

The Hoops suffered defeat at the hands of Southern Counties East League Division One side Lydd Town in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The game should have been played at Lydd but was switched to the Charles Ground because the Lydd pitch was waterlogged and it looked as though Deal were going to sign off their warm-up campaign with a win when Nick Treadwell put them in front after just four minutes.
But Bradley Baker produced a cool finish to bring Lydd level seven minutes later and the visitors then took the lead with 21 minutes gone through Harry Byrne. That lead was short-lined however as Charlie Walsh equalised 90 seconds later and it stayed at 2-2 until half-time.
The Hoops made one change for the second half, Sam Wilson coming on up front for his first piece of pre-season action after recovering from a knee injury, and it was Deal who enjoyed most of the territorial advantage. But they were unable to convert it into more goals and paid the price when Danny Kayte curled home a superb winner for Lydd 15 minutes from time.
