DEAL TOWN 2 LORDSWOOD 2

By Natalie Benville

The Hoops twice came from behind to earn a point against “bogey side” Lordswood on Monday.
Derek Hares’ side had failed to beat the Chatham outfit in any of their previous six meetings and they made the worst possible start to this latest encounter, falling behind after just two minutes when Mike Freiter fired home.
The rest of the half was then evenly contested, with both sides creating chances, but it remained 1-0- to Lordswood until 11 minutes into the second half when new signing Harris Rodgers equalised from just inside the box.
It was now anybody’s game and Lordswood regained the lead when Joe Kane headed home from a 73rd-minute free kick, but Deal kept battling away and got their reward when skipper Luke Bigginton headed in a corner eight minutes from time.
Hoops’ head coach Steve King “tweeted “afterwards: “Good character from the boys today to come from behind twice against a good Lordswood side.”
Deal: Tonkin, Butcher (Howard 29), O’Brien , Bigginton ( Cap ) K Smith, Scott, Brayne (Reeves 75), Foster (Brisley), Coyne, Rodgers, Adams.

  1. Good result (considering the numbers missing)against a good, somewhat physical side (at times) 😉
Lets hope some of the missing are back on Saturday. Will be another tough one.

  2. Hi Guys
At last on a visit to Deal I managed to make it to see Deal Town in action – the last game I saw was the 3-1 defeat against Lordswood – this time around it was the same opposition and again four goals were scored with the match ending 2-2 – I was impressed at the way Deal fought back against the useful Lordswood side.
I was also impressed at the young winger (Troy?) who reminded me of the old style wingers that seem all too rare these days
Hopefully I will not leave it so long next time – off to see Hungerford Town v Gloucester City later which will be a good match as HTFC have win their last two games after a wretched start
In their next home game they play Torquay United – it is sad to see a once established league club playing in the sixth tier and I wish then the best – although their problems are small against the problems that Chester are facing at present – however thats football
    Good luck this afternoon
