DEAL TOWN 1-2 FOLKESTONE

By Deal Town

Last Tuesday we played our second pre-season friendly against a strong Folkestone Invicta side at the Charles Ground. It was a great evening and an entertaining game that both sides would have taken a lot out of. It was very frustrating not being able to have any fans in as I am sure the game would have attracted a good crowd who would have had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, let’s hope it is not long before we can open the gates.

Although we lost the game 2-1, we were pleased with the performance from the boys. We were excellent for the first 35 minutes and took the lead through Luke Eldridge who latched onto an excellent pass from Jack Paxman. As the game became more open Folkestone showed their quality and were deserved winners. The boy’s fitness levels were good and we were still causing problems in the closing stages against a side who could well have been promoted from Isthmian Premier League if the season had been completed. There are a good set of highlights from the game on Folkestone’s twitter page for those who want to see the action from last night. We would like to thank Neil Cugley for bringing his side down and wish them all the best for their upcoming season.

The management team have spent today reviewing the video of the game and we will be working on things for us to improve on both individually and collectively as we move through pre-season. We are quickly back in action against tomorrow night against New Romney. We are expecting to make at least 9 changes to the side from last night so that we can have a good look at all of the squad. Again, it is disappointing that we can not have any fans in the ground but rest assured the club is fully set-up and equipped to welcome visitors safely as soon as we get the green light from the FA.

Come on you Hoops!
