Deal Town 0 Ramsgate 2

By Deal Town

Ramsgate were worthy winners of another entertaining pre-season friendly at the Charles Ground on Tuesday night.
The Rams took a grip on proceedings in the opening 45 minutes when Deal found it difficult to contain the visitors’ fast movement and passing. Tom Chapman put Ramsgate ahead with a sweet turn and shot from the edge of the box on 18 minutes and then Rory Smith added their second with a close-range finish 10 minutes before the break.
The second half was a more evenly-contested affair and the Hoops went close to opening their account through Connor Coyne and Steve Butcher but Ramsgate held firm and, on this evidence, look well capable of improving upon last season’s mid-table Isthmian Division One South finish.
