By Deal Town

The Hoops make their third trip of the season to the Badgers Sports Ground on Thursday night to take on Cray Valley PM.

And Derek Hares’ side will be hoping for a case of “third time lucky” after losing their two previous visits to Eltham. Deal were beaten 3-1 in the Kent Senior Trophy in mid-October and then lost 1-0 in a League Challenge Cup tie in early February.

The latter was the Hoops’ seventh defeat in their last eight meetings with the Millers, who had become something of a “bogey” side for Deal, but they started putting that situation behind them with a 2-1 victory at the Charles Ground a fortnight ago thanks to goals from Dean Hill and Luke Bigginton.

Cray were also in action on Tuesday night, drawing 0-0 at Erith Town, a result which left them in seventh  place in the table – three places and five points above Deal.  Thursday’s match will be the Millers’ final game of the season but the Hoops will still have two more games to play: Saturday’s home match with Holmesdale and the rearranged away game at Tunbridge Wells on April 30.

  1. With the Millers having played Saturday and Tuesday, and with Deal having a free weekend, the team should be fitter and(hopefully)less injury prone for Thursdays game. 🙂
Trouble is,the situation’s reversed for Saturdays home game against Holmesdale! 🙁
Good luck in both. Will be there Saturday.
