“Chopper” Harris at the Charles Ground

By Deal Town

Former Chelsea captain Ron “Chopper” Harris provided plenty of entertainment for everyone who came along to the Charles Ground on Saturday evening.

Ron, who made a record 795 appearances for the Blues during his near-20-year career at Stamford Bridge, told the packed clubhouse some great stories about his playing days alongside the likes of Peter Bonetti, Peter Osgood and Bobby Tambling, and also what it was like to mark legends of the game such as George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Ron also brought a number of signed photographs with him which were auctioned on the night, with the club keeping a share of the proceeds.
