Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now!

By Deal Town

The club are pleased to announce that a new promotional video about the Hoops is now ready for viewing on our website..

Produced by local company “Surfing The Skies “, headed by Sean Gaffney, the 3-minute film takes the viewer on a whistle-stop tour showcasing all the improvements that have been made to the Charles Ground in recent years.

And, with this October being the sixth anniversary of the arson fire which destroyed the original new clubhouse in 2011, the release of the video is a timely moment to show people just how much the club has moved on since that massive setback.

Hoops chairman Dave Chmura said: “With this new video we are promoting the community use of a fantastic facility and need the people of Deal  to know that there is somewhere new to hold their parties and events since The Quarterdeck closed, and also that we are encouraging youngsters to get out and play our national sport and their parents to support local grassroots football at an affordable level.

“The Charles Ground is now the envy of many of our fellow league clubs with every penny we raise being put back into the ground (not to mention the grass!) and receives great reviews from visiting clubs. We aim to eventually provide a floodlit 3G playing surface behind the stand for junior sides and for training purposes which could be self-funding.

“We are on good terms with the local council who helped with both technical and financial issues with the new clubhouse and we are most grateful for their support, while two local councillors have also helped in raising funds for a new road surface at the St Leonards Road entrance.

“We also have our refurbished hospitality suite which has proved popular with visiting teams and we’re not finished there, with a new “museum” being planned to celebrate the Hoops still being the only Kent club to have won the FA Vase.

“So, on the sixth anniversary of the 2011 fire, we have produced this video to let the townsfolk of Deal and its visitors know that their football club is in good hands and that, in what is also the centenary of the club as “Deal Town FC” (it was named Cinque Ports FC before 1917) they can safely look forward to having a football club represent the town for another 100 years. In the words of the Hoops’ newly-adopted signature song: “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now!”.

To have an area showing the historic Wembley final will be something that every fan can cherish.
I remember it like it was yesterday.
The club as a whole has greatly improved and on the pitch as well.
    Come on Deal.!!!
