Deal Town FC

Macca has longstanding ties to Deal and with the football club. He is a local lad who grew up, and continues to live, within a five-minute walk of the Charles Ground. He attended Mogenham Primary (Hornby) and later Castle High Secondary (Goodwin Academy).

Macca also has a rich football heritage. His Dad, Paul was capped by Northern Ireland and was also a former Deal Town player, coach and manager. Incidentally, Paul was also involved in bringing Kingy to the club as a coach over a decade ago.

Macca started his youth career predictably at Deal Town Rangers at under 7s and moved on to Gillingham at eight where he remained till he was 17.

He then switched to his Dad’s team at the Deal Academy and moved on to Canterbury City where he played his first senior season in Step 5.

After a year, at the age of 18, he moved to Ramsgate where he played for the first team for a total of 5 years, with a year gap in between.

Macca moved next on to Faversham for a season and then on to Whitstable. In 2017-18, in his first full season at the Belmont he played over 40 games and helped the club go on an incredible four month unbeaten run that brought two cup final wins (Kent Senior Trophy and SCEFL Challenge Cup) as well as winning promotion in Step 4.

After some managerial changes at Whitstable and a short break traveling, Macca moved to Deal in the 2020/21 season.

The move to Deal almost seemed inevitable. Macca had many friends at the Charles Ground on and off the pitch, his dad was still involved at Deal, he had known Kingy since he was sixteen and when he wasn’t playing he would often find himself watching them play.

Macca was instrumental in helping his local club win promotion to step 4 in the 2023/24 season and recalls Deal’s SCEFL title win as his football career highlight.

In the 2025/26 season Macca is beginning his sixth season at the club.
