HOOPS v GLEBE PREVIEW

By Deal Town

The Hoops travel to Chislehurst on Saturday to take on in-form Glebe in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.

Glebe are lying second in Division 1 of the Southern Counties East League, three points behind leaders Rusthall with two matches in hand, and Deal manager Derek Hares told the East Kent Mercury: “Glebe are going well and I expect it to be a difficult game. They are used to winning and that always gives teams confidence.”

‘Del’ is hoping that Chris Waymark will able to retain his place in goal after being forced to come off at half-time in last week’s defeat by Corinthian with a hand injury, saying:  “Chris has badly bruised his knuckles but I think he will be all right to play.”

The Hoops lost 1-0 in a midweek friendly at home to Faversham Strike Force in a game in which the Deal side was made up of players who have been mostly sitting on the bench in recent weeks such as Liam Hark and Danny Smith, plus reserve team goalie Wes Miller and defender Matt Causer.

The reserves are at home this Saturday in a Les Leckie Cup tie against Cuxton 91 who are currently top of the Kent County League Division 2 Central & East.
